2016, vidéo d’animation, 6m 44s

Born in Sainte-Foy in 1957, Thomas Corriveau received his master’s degree in fine arts from Concordia University in 1988. He taught for twelve years at Ottawa University’s visual arts department, and has been a professor since 2002 at Université du Québec à Montréal’s visual arts school. His works have been regularly presented in Quebec and abroad since the beginning of the 80s. In 1996, he received the first Graff Prize rewarding the work of a mid-career artist from Quebec, created in honor of Pierre Ayot’s memory.

Thomas Corriveau’s artistic production maintains important formal and conceptual ties to painting, the discipline from which it is born, yet his practice expands to include a multidisciplinary approach to image-making that often extends into sculptural, photographic or cinematic works. His recent interest in printmaking (serigraphy and relief printing) and the potential of digital imagery has led him to pursue his creative research on the fragmentation of the image -constantly challenging the viewer to question his or her ways of perception.
